- Why when you descriminate on diversity?
- ONLY when whatever factor impacts the employee's performance on the job
Descrimination
- Descrimination is absolutly required in daily life
- However, it must be used effectively
Thomas & Ely's 3 Diversity Paradigms
- Discrimination & fairness
- Demographic diversity, usually companies here diversify because they have to
- 2. Access and legitimacy
- e.g.: access to more diverse clientele. Diversity adds value to company.
- 3. Learning & effectiveness
- Company usually moves to this step when a undervalued group adds an unusally large value to the organization
- Diversity embeded in all organizational structures & practices
- This is when people only consider value to company, not race / gender.
