As your character progresses through EverQuest they will run into many different items that may drop from a mob, be the result of a quest or even be bought from other players.

There are five main types of armor. Cloth armor can be worn by everyone and is usually starter armor. Plate armor is used by your melee and priest classes. Warriors, Shadow Knights, Paladins, Clerics, and Bards all wear plate armor. Chain is used mainly by your. Shamans, Rangers, Berzerkers, and Rogues use chain armor. Leather is used by the classes that are in tuned to nature or those in which weight is a big factor. Druids, Beastlords and Monks all use leather armor. Silk is used by your pure casters. Enchanters, Mages, Necromancers, and Wizards all use silk armor.

Other types of items include containers, tradeskill items, weapons, and inventory items. Each item fits in a specific slot.
