Ceralin de Roisin

From BluWiki

(118 FS - ) Ceralin was the only daughter born to soldier-turned-merchant Walter de Roisin and Rosalind Venstrom de Roisin, who died in childbirth. Walter had hoped for a son but named his daughter Ceralin in honor of his father, Ceralac. Her childhood was emotionally tumultuous, one minute ignored by her father, the next adored by him. To Walter, Ceralin was a constant reminder both of his beloved Rosalind and of her untimely death.

Ceralin favored athletic pastimes as a child, earning for herself the indignation of her more "proper" female peers. Her talent, particularly for swordplay, was impressive even in comparison to the young men already serving in esquire. Female knights, while rare, were not unheard of in the United Guard of Altair, so Ceralin set her heart upon this lofty goal, and Walter encouraged her. They trained together, father imparting his knowledge to daughter until her talent was recognized by another.

Sir Ulrich, a prestigious Guard knight, took Ceralin on as his squire. She served him faithfully, working with the dedication befitting a knight of the United Guard. She was sixteen years old in 134 FS, when Altair fell under attack from the Fire Legion. When the traitorous Gro-Bannor opened the gates to the city, Ceralin and Sir Ulrich's unit was overwhelmed. When faced with a particularly imposing orc charging for her, the young squire turned on her mount and fled.

That shame haunted her for the two years of her self-imposed exile. She made her living as a sword-for-hire, wandering the lands of the fallen Altair and evading Fire Legion patrols. In 136 FS, she came to the refugee village of Haven. Tired of her wayfaring lifestyle, she settled there seeking a new start.

And that was what she found. Ceralin resumed training and served periodically in defensive patrols for the town. She made friends in the town, and her new life was largely a peaceful one until she received a letter from Sir Malchet, the military leader of Haven. He had summoned her, along with Oleron Lethos, Aldaren Sterenfeuer, and Olan because Relena, a pillar of the community, was sick and would have to be sent away from the village if not cured soon. Thus began the adventuring career of Ceralin de Roisin.

After successfully recovering the cure for Relena's ailment, the adventuring group stuck together, with the exception of Olan, who chose to remain with his kindred elves whom the group had encountered along the way. They served the people of Haven, helping where they were able, until they were presented with a task by Fob the Miller. He asked them to deliver two sacks of flour to a remote location by night. The adventurers were suspicious, but their investigations proved fruitless, so they delivered the bags. Unknown to Ceralin and her fellows at the time, the bags contained maps of Haven, and their delivery granted the Fire Legion the information it needed to destroy the village.

The strike was brutal and swift. One by one, the residential clusters of Haven burned under Fire Legion torches. The populace retreated to a small stone fortress constructed for just such an event, but sabotage had compromised the walls, and they fell with the slightest push. While Oleron and Aldaren aided the retreat, Ceralin stood fast alongside Cyrus, Sir Malchet, and dedicated Resistance troops holding the Fire Legion at bay. She was knocked unconscious in the battle and captured.

When she awoke, Ceralin found herself en route to a slave processing camp, her sense of vindication marred by her dread of what horrors awaited her, but her friends were loyal. They orchestrated a raid to save their captured comrade, but not before she witnessed Cyrus receive the horrible burning brand of Fire Legion oppression.

Freed from her bonds, Ceralin and her companions were informed of a new threat that faced them: they had been accused of treason. The rumors surfaced because of their involvement in the delivery of maps to the Fire Legion. To avoid repercussions, William Mordhen, one of the leaders of the Resistance, sent them off on a quest to retrieve a magical orb for him. On their return journey, however, they were abducted by pirates and briefly detained in Darvin. Upon their return to the Resistance hideout, however, only arrest and formal charges awaited.

With the help of Aldaren's silver tongue, the heroes convinced the judicial council of Mordhen, Kerrick, and Adric, a former inhabitant of Haven, that their intentions were not malicious and that they committed their crime unawares. They were sentenced to perform a mission on behalf of the Resistance. Ceralin, Oleron, and Aldaren traveled to the occupied city of Altair. There they performed espionage and sabotage missions to prepare for a future strike. Mordhen had commissioned them to an additional task, the assassination of Maximilian Grobak, head of the Gro-Bannor family, but Ceralin refused to participate. Her friends, however, agreed and completed the mission.

After completing their assignment and being absolved of their crimes, Ceralin an Aldaren set off with Kathryn Peacecraft, another Resistance official, to liberate a Fire Legion sulfur mine rumored to hold Cyrus. Their mission was successful, and Cyrus returned to the Resistance forces as a result.

Ceralin was joined by Aldaren, Oleron, and Olan on a mission to infiltrate Altair, challenge, and defeat Leshrak the Fierce, the Fire Legion governor of the city. The bulk of the Legions armies were defending Rivermeet, drawn away by the Resistance feint conducted there. A-Zaruk was also at the battle, her attention turned from her devoted follower while Ceralin and her companions fought a hard battle against him. In this fight, the young warrior encountered a figure from her past, Gurziban, the tall orc who slew Sir Ulrich and now wielded his sword. Ceralin faced and defeated him, reclaiming Sir Ulrich's blade as a token of her victory. With that same blade, she dealt the killing blow to Leshrak. Meanwhile, at the Battle of Rivermeet, A-Zaruk was destroyed as a result of the astronomical phenomenon that briefly summoned a strange and alien being of immense power to Primus.

Ceralin returned to her knightly training following the signing of the Treaty of Altair and was inducted into the order as Knight Bachelor. During her training under Kathryn Peacecraft, she encountered a familiar young man, Dyne Ulrich, the son of her former knight. Tensions were high but the training was completed without significant incident. Ceralin searched for a way to exonerate her father, whom she discovered has been blacklisted in Darvin by Edgard Benton. After an ill-fated attempt to convince Port Rameau's magistrate and patriarch Louis Figaro to rescind the ban on her father, Ceralin helped him escape the city and placed him in charge of farming on her estate.

She journeyed with Cyrus, Aldaren and Oleron to the plane of the Nameless, where Cyrus discovered his true identity as Ghaleon and Ceralin received the crypitc clue "Erebus" in her quest to reforge the silver dragon blade Cardiclast. Upon her return to Altair, she was assigned to reestabilsh contact with the Isles of the Sky and the town of Empyria located there. Alongside Dyne and Kathryn, Ceralin discovered that the Faulken Empire had since colonized the realm. She spoke with Galfgarion, the island's imperial governor, and later returned with Aldaren to put forth further diplomatic entreaties.

After performing painstaking research and enlisting the help of Relena, Ceralin discovered a connection between the remnants of the vanquished duergar and Cardiclast. With the help of her compatriots and a dwarven guide named Daglan, she made her way deep into the northern mountains to speak with the last deep dwarves. There she learned that Erebus was the being who originally forged the Godslayers and that he dwelt in a mountain in the Elemental Chaos. With this information, she enlisted Daedelos to take her and the other adventurers to the mountain.

When she arrived, she discovered that Erebus was once the god of earth, banished after Vivec's death because of the weapon he created. Ceralin and her companions delved through the arduous trials of the mountain which culminated in a fight with the spirit of Erebus' Great Forge. Seeing her triumph, the downcast god agreed to reforge Cardiclast.

As the new bearer of the sword, Ceralin stands ready to face any evil.
