Cyrus

From BluWiki

(99 FS - ) Cyrus was an imposing warrior, tall with stark white hair, who appeared in Haven in 135 FS. His past is a mystery; his first memory was training under the monks of Icthareon in that same year. Through this training he became a formidable paladin, wholly devoted to serving his god. But another goal drove him. Cyrus needed to discover his true identity. His search was aided when he discovered the existence of The Nameless, the mystical keepers of all creatures' names. By finding them, Cyrus hoped to discover his true name and thus his identity.

He found his way to Haven, and while he sought a way to find the nameless, he gave his services to the village as an independent defender. When he met Aldaren Sterenfeuer, Ceralin de Roisin, and Oleron Lethos, his hope was rekindled, and he told them of his quest. He and the heroes formed a fast bond of friendship, standing together to defend Haven from the Fire Legion forces at the massacre of 136 FS. He fell with the stronghold, Fire Legion forces taking him captive. At the slave processing camp Khamanek, he was branded and shipped to toil in a Legion sulfur mine, said to be reserved only for the most hated of slaves. There he became a leader to the slaves, though the searing brand he bore kept him from inciting a revolt.

Ceralin and Aldaren, along with Kathryn Peacecraft performed a secret raid to liberate the prisoners and sabotage the mine just before the Battle of Rivermeet. They counteracted the brands with a special potion and led the slaves, Cyrus included, to safety. After scant days of recovery, the warrior led a squadron of freedom fighters into the confrontation at Rivermeet. His forces fought on the strongest portion of the enemy lines and held until A-Zaruk appeared. Though she decimated the Resistance forces, Cyrus survived and bore witness to the Great Catastrophe that destroyed the Elder Wyrm and Rivermeet itself.

Cyrus experienced a breakthrough in his search when he and Aldaren Sterenfeuer discovered a journal written by Elmaier that Faudpierre LaChante claimed to possess. Though the pirate lord turned up empty-handed, having lost the journal more than one year prior, it was recovered by a group of adventurers led by Corlin Valentine. Using the book, Cyrus and his fellows deciphered the location of a portal to the plane of the Nameless, keepers of all True Names. With the knowledge of his true name, he hoped to discover his true identity once and for all.

Through a dangerous journey to the pane with Ceralin, Aldaren, and Oleron, Cyrus was able to confront the Nameless and discover his own True Name, revealing his identity as Ghaleon Ebonheart. Distraught over this revelation, he committed himself to redemption. His reunion with Sir Gareth Ebonheart, his brother, was bittersweet, as Cyrus turned himself in to stand trial for his crimes.

Pleading "guilty" to the accusations leveled against him, Cyrus was acquitted by the Council of Altair, on the condition he swear an oath of loyalty to the city and its people. He has since remained in the city, growing closer with his brother.

From his desire to bring redemption to his former protege, Cale Ulrich, Cyrus agreed to help Aldaren with his plan to lure the leader of the Dogs of War into an ambush. The plan went awry, however, when Cale arrived with a large cadre of Dogs of War at his side. What followed was a brutal duel between Aldaren and Cale, with Aldaren the eventual victor. Cale yielded and Aldaren spared him, but Cyrus picked up his old blade Draconis and, in a moment of weakness or nostalgia or rage, sliced the vanquished Cale's throat. Devastated by his own actions, he surrendered the sword to the Council of Altair, and it is now kept in the city's treasury.

After the death of his brother Gareth, Cyrus assumed his place on the Council of Altair, where he currently serves.
