Transcript
(Zi is in her bedroom, looking glum. She's wearing her glasses and a white sweater with an olive shirt under it. Her hair is pulled back.)
Zi: (Pulls a face.) I'm having a cranky day. It's snowing out.
(Cut to shot of Zi's back yard. It is, indeed, covered with snow.)
Zi: I hate snow. Makes me cold. Makes my feet cold. (Holds out hands.) My hands get wet when I have to clean off the car...generally just irritates me. I like it for Christmas, I'm all about snow on Christmas morning, cuz that looks pretty. Yay! (Grabs a mug of something, presumably hot.) But unless you've lived with snow...it's usually best on a Christmas card. Versus actually having to live through it. Um...but the good thing about snow is that it...kinda made me think.
I got in touch with a friend today I hadn't talked to in a reeeally really really super-duper-uber long time. And it was fantastic! We hadn't talked for a while...her schedule was funky, my schedule was funky, and we just kind of...we're like ships passing in the night, we never really got a hold of each other.
Well, talking to her made me think about this other friend that I have...who drives me absolutely bonkers. She's a sweet girl, love her to pieces, but she's got this whole, like, martyr thing going on...I dunno what her deal is. Very rarely hear from her, and when I do hear from her it's to complain because so-and-so's only calling her cuz they want something, or--she--this crappy email, and this person wants this, and that person wants that, and nobody likes her they just use her...and all this other B.S. and...It just drives me flipping bonkers. Because it's not true, not true at all.
Actually, the exact opposite is true. She's the one that you never ever hear from. Hardly ever. Unless she needs something, she wants to do something, can you go here and do this, I need you to do that, can you do this for me, do that for me...Um...I guess, yeah, cuz...You know, you wanna help out and you don't wanna be a jerk, but...You know there's never gonna be a thank you. There's no appreciation for what it is you've done, and you know for a fact that she's probably...talking about you behind your back saying, you know, how awful and ungrateful you are, and that you only want her for...whatever reason, and you don't really-- It's just crap, she drives me bonkers.
And she could be a nice person, she really really really could, but for whatever insane reason she's got a chip on her shoulder...and it's huge. Just huge. And you just kinda want to stop and, like, shake her, shake the chip off and be like "You should really...get over yourself." A little...bit. Cuz you're driving me bonkers. (takes a sip of her drink) But what can you do, right? So you put up with the dramatics, and the temper tantrums, and the 'nobody-loves-me's...because every once in a while...She's great. And she's fun to be around, and she makes you laugh, and she makes you smile, and she...she's great! (sighs) Now, if we could only make her like that aallll the time...(Thinks, then makes a face.) Hmm. What I would give for an intervention, right? (laughs)
Whatever. Well, that's my vent for the day, I'm gonna go back to my coffee, and wearing J's clothes cuz I have to do laundry...badly...and cleaning my house, cuz you know it's Turkey Day in 2 days and I'm...I'm not Suzie Homemaker. Um, love you all!
(She blows a kiss.)
