The Fruits of Rodentia

Fruit... is a strange breed. For all intents and purposes, fruits should be as still as the plants they are borne on, but that is simply not the case. Strawberries, grapes, bananas, and pears, among others, are all capable of snarling, biting, crying, and, in some rare cases, speaking, much like other creatures that inhabit the lands.

The Pear

The Pear is an old, wise fruit who bides his time in the golden fields of the King's personal garden. It is a strange, enchanted creature, not known for any great patience when beseeched. Many an adventurer has gone to seek the advice of The Pear, only to make the mistake of speaking too quickly, or of making erroneous or paradoxical statements. For these adventurers, they can receive no other answer but The Pear's mocking false confusion.

The Pear The wise pear spoke,

"On the 16th hour on the 16th day of the 16th month of the 16th year, the foul Gerbil shall rise again. He will seek to unite our foes - the cats, the weasels, and the rats - against us. Only if the lost blade is found and remade can He be slain. If it is not, all shall be brought to darkness. Never will a hamster nibble freely, nor will we hear the turn of a wheel again. Darkness shall cover the land"

Lightwhiskers left the Pear and to contemplate this prophecy.

As you enter the garden, you think back to what you have been told. Ask your question in whatever manner you see fit. Rudeness matters not. You will be judged before the words leave your mouth. You walk along the winding path to the center of the garden, so nervous that you fail to notice the breath-taking beauty around you. Minutes later, you approach a mighty tree towering over you. Even though it is the dead of winter, the tree is full of leaves. They say that if the leaves fell, that the end of the world would soon follow. Walking closer, you see that there is a lone piece of fruit in one of the lower branches of the tree. From this distance, you cant tell of this is who youre here to see. One of the guards points to a previously unnoticed stairway. It is built so cleverly, disguised against the bark so thoroughly, that you can barely tell its there. It takes a minute or two to even reach the first branch of this mighty tree. When you arrive, you step out on to a platform, leading out to where the Pear is growing, where it has grown for generations. As you approach, the creature opens its eyes, and a split opens revealing a comically large mouth. You take a breath, and prepare to ask your question

The Strawberries

Some say that he found them in the west, on an island far out to sea. Some say from the heart of the Death Fang Jungle. Whatever their origin, he now keeps them in his underground palace hidden in the heart of Murdistan. Tales are told in that country to terrify children, tales of crimson monsters, snapping and howling, held at bay only by the vines they grew from. They tell children that bad little boys and girls will be taken from their beds at night by Bloodwhiskers and fed to his terrible Beluabacas as a sacrifice, in exchange for necromantic powers. These stories may not be far from the truth.
