Course Description
This is an introductory course for students in the Health Studies program (although anyone can take it). The idea is to give an overview of some of the major issues in the Health field, and explain how the Health Studies program at Waterloo approaches them.
It is divided into 3 modules: human reproduction and sexuality, infectious diseases, and genetic diseases and cancer.
Tips
For the midterms:
- If it is Glenn Ward teaching, you will want to memorize all his points SPECIFICALLY. His midterms are difficult because he will ask for specific facts, but on the other hand they are NOT tricky - the questions are very straightforward, and if you have memorized all his points then you will do well.
- Use Google to research points you don't understand from class. Since it is an introductory course, a lot of points will not be explored in detail by the professor, and so they may seem like just a list of things which you have to memorize without truly understanding. However, if you use Google, you will understand it and this will be better for you as a student and will also make the points easier to memorize.
