Update Nov 26th - Ipodhash author responds

The author of this project has contacted me and I've forwarded his name to Fred from the EFF. I've also posted his response to Apple's claims on my blog. --Sam Odio 06:23, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I hope you don't mind that I'm adding my comment here. If you do I guess you can delete it. Anyhow, I think Apple is way out of line here and I'm willing to send you guys a bit of cash to help pay legal costs. Not too much, but hey every bit helps. I'm also happy to stipulate in the donation that if the money is not needed for legal costs then you can use it to support the ipodhash project. Apple's lawyers are (presumably) competent and realize that the DMCA does not apply here, but they also realize that they can force bluwiki to give in regardless of who's in the right. That's plain and simple bullying. I like Apple products, but I hate bullies. I hope that by supporting ipodhash, it will deliver the clear message that this type of bullying is counter productive. Good luck, T. Meyzer.

Update Nov 25th - EFF is on board!

Great news: the EFF has agreed to represent us. Read more here. --Sam Odio 06:23, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Update Nov 22nd - Find the Ipodhash Author

Help bluwiki and the EFF respond to Apple's takedown request and protect your right to free speech. We're looking to put the author of this project in touch with Fred von Lohmann from the EFF. Read more about what's going on at my blog. --Sam Odio 20:34, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Takedown Notice

A lawyer claiming to represent Apple, Inc has asked that we remove all content on this page (see email). We're currently investigating the issue, and determining what our rights are. We're not quite sure how the DMCA pertains to us, and where we fall within the law. We're currently looking for a lawyer, if anyone can recommend someone please do.

Our interest, as always, is to foster a community that values the individual right to free speech. Today we must unfortunately balance that value with the risk of being sued out of existence.

If you're not a lawyer but have experience in these issues, and would like to help us "fight the good fight", please contact me. --Sam Odio 17:50, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
