Johanna Holahan (nee Harpur)

Married Patrick Holahan in 28/Apr/1920.

Johanna's parents were John Harpur and Johanna harpur (nee Brothers). John was from Killurin, Wexford; Johanna Brothers from Bannow, Wexford. They were married in 1897.Johanna Harpur (nee Brothers) was previously married to a John Keogh.
Johanna's siblings were John ("Jack), Mary, James("Jim") Jim_Harpur and Kitty Harpur. Her half-siblings were William Keogh, Michael "Mick" Keogh and Annie McCarthy (nee Keogh).
Grew up on John Dillon Street, off Francis Street in Dublin. During married life lived on Sigard Road, off North Circular Road.

Audio interview with Johanna Holahan
Johanna did an interview with an unknown American researcher in the 1980s (?). A tape of the interview was given to members of the family.

Gun Running
Johanna told many stories about her involvement with "the movement".
- One story told is about transporting hidden hand guns in her son (Paud's) baby pram. However, what date could this have been?
- Another story is about being raided (by Black & Tans in War of Independence?) and having guns hidden in baby cots.
Cumann na Mban
Member of Cumann na mBan Joined in 1917 and was Captain of the Eamonn Ceant Branch. 1st Branch after Rising. Connected with McBride Sinn Fein Club on Winetaven Stret.
