LEARNING STYLES
There are many different versions of learning styles. The important thing as you find the way you are most comfortable learning is that you learn through all styles, sometimes you use all styles. All too often people stop learning when the information presented is not in their 'preferred'learning style.
Most people have a dominant sense they learn through with a 'backup' sense. The most common ones are:
- 1 How we RECEIVE information (Perceptual style)
- Visual (you learn through seeing - text, pictures, etc
- Auditory (you learn through hearing)
- Kinesthetic (you learn through doing, moving)
- Tactile (you learn through touching.

Kolb's learning theory sets out four distinct learning styles (or preferences), which are based on a four-stage learning cycle. http://www.businessballs.com/kolblearningstyles.htm
- 4 Personality/Situation factors:
Focus on attention, emotion, and values. Studying these differences allows us to predict the way we will react and feel about different situations. Some people prefer learning lying on the floor, in a quiet room, outside, with background music, when they are happy, time pressured, etc. An interesting article is based on 5 personality traits - extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness - and their relationship with learning: http://informationr.net/ir/5-3/paper78.html For a great collection of personality styles, types and tests see: http://www.businessballs.com/personalitystylesmodels.htm
