History

Son of a Japanese father and English-speaking American mother, Tristan was born in the small town of Hot Springs, USA. However, he only lived there for a matter of months before moving to Japan with his parents due to his father’s business. Tristan oddly came to feel out of place in Japan and that America was his true home, despite his brief stay. Thus, when he was nine, and returned to the States with his mother in order to attend private school in Baltimore, his mind was put at ease.

When he was thirteen, a strange thing happened. His father, Hiroto, was made unexpectedly bankrupt and his extensive shipping company that he had remained in Japan to manage was brought to its knees under mysterious circumstances. Tristan’s parents decided that, for the time being, they would stay where they were – their son continuing his education and Hiroto attempting to resurrect his dying firm – but soon it was apparent that they would not be able to sustain Tristan’s expensive tutelage, and he was forced to attend a regular high school.

Soon enough, this foreign child of once-wealthy parents ‘brought down to the common levels’ became the subject of the school bullies, remaining a target to this day. Tristan discovered his power at the age of fifteen, when his foot unexpectedly shattered the side of the crate he had been kicking in anger over the most recent spell of vicious incidents at school. Normally a very gentle kid, his frustration had turned him to physical venting of his emotions and his mutant abilities had manifested themselves.

This revelation of potential gave him a definite boost in courage, allowing him the fortitude to weather most of the following incidents. He also took up Tae Kwon Do as a means to channel his frustrations and hone his kicking abilities, for it seemed that only his legs could be imbued with destructive force. And it actually became a healthy habit rather than the violent obsession that it could have been. Consequently, he became very dedicated to the martial art and excelled rapidly in the classes. It also gave his arms something to do, as he had felt great disappointment when he realised that only his legs had the gift. His bruised knuckles were a testament to that!

Tristan is a good-natured and kind youth, if a tad shy and naïve. He knows he has to be responsible with his power, and despite his feelings of hatred towards the older boys who torture him, he continues to fight the urge for retribution.

Enemies

At this point in time, school bullies are his archnemeses. During the school day, they can be the bane of Tristan's existence. Thankfully, they rarely stay at school longer than they need to, and so he can find respite in his after-school TKD lessons, and a means of channeling his stress.

Powers

Tristan is capable of focusing a mysterious form of energy in his lower legs and feet, materialising in a faint white glow over the surface. This charge can serve a number of purposes, but is initially discovered as a means to add extra force to his kicks. As Tristan grows stronger, so does the potential of this energy, although its origin and limit remains a mystery.

Concussive Charge: Faint Glow: Multiplies the concussive impact of kicks by up to 4 times
Blasts: Invisiball: Tristan releases the collected charge in his legs through individual blasts of near-invisible energy that will travel up to 10m, carrying the same force as a full-powered Faint Glow kick, although after this distance they will dissipate immediately.
Other
Propulsion: Super Jump: By discharging the energy in both legs directly into the ground, Tristan can propel himself approx. 4m into the air at a speed of 6m/s. Using his natural leg strength to jump at the same time will result in a greater distance of 10m at roughly 7m/s. Using one leg will halve the distance but not the speed.

Currently Available Upgrades:
Concussive Charge: Burn: This upgrade to Faint Glow appears as crackling, white electricity around the lower leg and foot. The maximum natural concussive force is now multiplied by a factor of 8 while, in addition, Tristan’s legs will burn the target upon impact, proportionate to the weight placed behind the kick.
Blasts: Electro Ball: As his skills improve, the electricity of Burn naturally intensifies the Invisiball which evolves into a visible and much more powerful form. These blasts carry the concussive force of Burn, while the electric nature has a chance to stun if an opponent is struck in succession. The blasts travel 30m before dissipating.
