George

This is the first prototype freepcb drawing

2/16/2008----pcb design and parts spec-ing begins (george, the first prototype, is born)

Maurice

2/23/2008----pcb design again, with improvements from class (21st) (george, became Maurice the improved first prototype. the board uses the radtronix 433 mhz receiver.) maurice

3/4/2008----pcb design again, hand made pcb etched, see images below

image of manually etched pcb, used to demonstrate the effectiveness of inductive charging
This image shows the soic-14 sized micro controller in relation to a us 1 cent penny
The size of 0805 led's in relation to a penny

3/12/2008----pcb design again, sent out and will be hand fabricated wednesday 3.19.2008 here's what the board includes:

7 xerxes (rev5) vibrobytes with highspeed rf (916mhz)
2 transmitters (916mhz)
(they fit right on top of the arduino, shield style and are speced' with built in amplifiers and matched rubber duck antennas)
1 breakout board for the lower cost rf reciever module
2 electrostatic different charging boards
3 electromagnetic charging boards
1 lower cost rf transmitter dev board
1 lower cost rf receiver dev board

update!! (the parts list is posted at the following link [[1]]

Description

update!! (the parts are in for rev Maurice ([[2]]))

Xerxes

update!! i did a bit of work on rev6 over spring break. the following is the parts list for xerxes: [[3]]

some images of the pcb:

This is a screen shot of the xerxes pre-production board. Design made in freepcb

This is a screen shot of the 916mhz transmitter board

update!! instruction set / pin mapping for xerxes boards:

Command ... action

pwm1b motor 3 pwm output
pwm1a motor 2 pwm output
Pwm0a Motor 1 pwm output
Pwm2b (while pin d4 = 0) Led 1 pwm output
Pwm2b (while pin d6 =0) Led 2 pwm
Pwm2b While both pin d6 & d4 =0 Both leds 1 &2 are on the pwm out line
Pwm0b (while pind7 = 0) Led3 pwm
Pwm0b (while pinb7 =0) Led4 pwm
While both d7 and b7 =0 Both leds 3&4 are on the pwm out line
Input statements Work just like basic

3/27/2008---- Inductive charging demo in class worked great thanks to Chris Scully's work.
work continues on vibrobyte. next revision needs to be longer, better, faster, smarter.

3/29/2008--- Baracus

Pin mappings for using the Sample Electronics Programmer with BASCOM-AVR on Xerxes:

db25 name 48 pin pad (bottom to top)
2 mosi 15 3
4 reset 29 5
5 clock 17 1
11 miso 16 2
19-25 ground 21 4
