HOW TO KICKFLIP

Step 1

Hi, my name is Randy and I�m going to teach you how to do a kickflip on a skateboard today.

First of all, you will need a skateboard. I prefer Manik and Mystery decks because they have lots of pop. Also, before you start to learn kickflips, you will need to know how to ollie, in which you jump and the board comes up with you. So once you get the ollie down, you are ready for the kickflip. To kickflip, you will want your back foot on the tail of your board, sort of like an ollie, and your front foot in a sort of pointy position about 2 to 4 inches behind the front bolts.

Step 2

Like you see in the picture, the important thing is to have your heel hanging off from the board. Now it�s the hard part. First, you have to stump on the tail of your board, so it pops up beneath you. Then you will have to flick out on the concave part of the board, look below for the red X to get the most controllable flick.

Step 3

Now it�s the hard part, to get the best chances to land, you want to flick out in a 70 degree angle, see the picture below.

Step 4

As you flick out, your board should rotate under you. As you watch it spin, make sure both of your feet is out of the way as your board spins. On the first sight of the griptape, catch your board and roll away! It dose seem easy but it is a very hard trick to learn. A big problem I had when I was trying to learn a kickflip was landing on the board 1 footed. I think the key to that is to be committed in the trick. Other problems include landing in prime, which is landing on the board sideways. But just practice and soon you�ll get it. Once you master the kickflip flat ground, try it onto curbs or off of stairs.
