Official Name: Red Lantern Power Rings
Emotion: Rage
Homeworld: Ysmault
Alignment: Evil
Origin: Before the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardians brought order to the universe with an android police force known as the Manhunters. Due to a "programming glitch," the Manhunters murdered every living creature within Sector 666 before they were stopped. The only five survivors of the massacre formed a terrorist group targeting the Guardians called the Five Inversions. Imprisoned on Ysmault, Atrocitus used his primitive prophetic rituals and the blood of the other four Inversions to harness the red rage rampant throughout the universe. He now uses his Red Lanterns as mad dogs against the targets of his rage: Hal Jordan and Sinestro.
Powers: Upon induction into the Red Lantern Corps, a Lantern's blood is expelled and replaced with a napalm-like plasma, which can be projected by the Lantern through their mouth. As long as there is anger present, the red fire burns, even in the vacuum of space. The power rings also provide flight, force fields and communication. Red is one of the energies far from the center, and represents the emotion of rage/anger. Using a person's rage, they are able to tap into the red light. However, controlling the red light also renders the heart useless and spoils the blood of the wielder. The red light was first harnessed by Atrocitus of the Five Inversions, using blood rituals to form Red Power Rings and Batteries to be used by his Red Lantern Corps. See below for extensive list of powers.
Weaknesses: Because red is on the farther edges of the emotional spectrum, Red Lanterns are unable to think clearly or be reasoned with. They rarely speak, save for their leader Atrocitus, and often attack without distinction. The blue light of hope can extinguish the red flame.

Background

The Red Lantern Corps was formed by Atrocitus of the Five Inversions, one of the five survivors of the Massacre of Sector 666. Using the blood magics of the Five Inversions, Atrocitus harnessed the red spectrum of light, allowing him to empower the rage within him. The Red Power Ring was born out of anger and crystalized the blood of the Inversions.

Atrocitus' first discovery of the red spectrum came during the years of incarceration he endured on the prison planet of Ysmault. He blames the Guardians of the Universe for the massacre of his sector, and because of this Atrocitus built up years of hatred and rage. When he gave in fully to his rage, it was given shape for the first time when he bludgeoned Qull to death, one of his fellow survivors, with a Red Lantern Power Battery.

Roleplaying Statistics

Red Energy Conduit: The rings use Red energy, supplied by a Power Battery, which in most cases takes the form of red light. Red Lantern's ring, has the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the known universe, including electromagnetic energies such as gravity, radiation, heat, light, and powerful blasts of concussive force. The ring can also create fields of force formed from an unknown energy that was bound by the users' will. The limitations of such use are the skill, knowledge and imagination of the user.

  • Red Energy Blasts: The ring can be used to fire blasts of red energy or create weapons such as projectiles of them. The ring can project beams of force powered by the rage of the user. The weapons power is more an indication of the rage of the user. Poor to Incredible.
  • Flight: By the manipulation of anti-gravitons and directed molecular movement, the ring allows the user to fly at incredible speeds.
  • Wormholes & Spacial Warps: The power ring grants its wearer access to wormholes in space, enabling the ring wielder to rapidly cut time and distance needed for transport. Black holes can be navigated by experienced ring wielders .
  • Limited Cellular Regeneration: This ring has an ability to heal physical injuries. Poor to Excellent.
  • Universal Translator
  • Rage Infection: Red Lanterns are capable of infecting others with the rage, which can lead to them being converted to the the Red Lantern Cause.
  • Rage Empowerment: the Red Lantern ring is unique in that its base of power, Rage, can be manipulated by the ring user. A Red Lantern can detect the rage in the heart of others and by connection the blood that pumps that blood. The rage and hatred of a individual red lantern empowers their abilities as well as the rage and hatred of others.
Laira
*Venomous Spitfire: upon accepting the rings, their hearts were rendered useless and spoiled the blood from within, causing them to vomit plasma, which has been described as napalm and acid mixed together, it burns away at anything. It can be surmised that is is the internal rages effect on the blood. These flames burn even in space. The effect it has on living beings, allows it to ignite the flames of rage in a victims blood and has the effect of burning through energy aura's of an opponent as well as corrupting other power rings depleting them at an accelerated rate and greatly weakening the structures they create.. Remarkable.

Weakness

  • Life-Support Dependency: As the Red Power Ring assumes the functions of the heart, a Red Lantern cannot remove the their ring without risking death.
  • Uncontrollable Rage: Because red is on the farthest edges of the emotional spectrum, Red Lanterns are unable to think clearly or be reasoned with. They rarely speak, save for their leader Atrocitus, and often attack without distinction.
  • Hope Influence: the Blue light of hope is seemingly the only power that can extinguish the red flame.

Notes
