Beginning of Greek Mythology
The Origins
In Greek mythology, the gods that we know today were not always rulers. In myths people say that in the beginning there was nothing. Then came Chaos which was the void that all of existence came from. From chaos came Gaia, whom is mother earth. She gave birth to Ouranos and together they produced the Titans. Not only that, but they produced Cyclops and One-Handed ones.
A New Power
They scared Ouranos; so he locked them away in Tartarus which is part of the underworld. Gaia was saddened by the locking away of her children so she asked Kronos to slay Ouranos. Kronos did so and then came to power over the world. However he did not free the Cyclops or the One-Hundred handed ones. Gaia said that one of Kronos children would kill him one day so Kronos ate every kid he had until Gaia and Rhea, his wife, hid Zeus.
The War
Zeus then grew up and freed his siblings. Together the first Olympians: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia, fought the Titans in a huge war. Zeus and his siblings would have lost except one of the Titans, Prometheus, told Zeus that to win he would have to free the Cyclops, and the One-Hundred handed ones. Zeus agreed and freed them. In return the Cyclops made his lightning bolt and other famous weapons. Together they defeated the Titans and Zeus was almost the ruler of the world.
One Final Enemy
While this battle was going on Gaia who was saddened by all the fighting and made one final beast with Tartarus, Typhon. Typhon was incredibly power and evil with one-hundred snake-like heads. Zeus fought him alone and after a brave battle finally defeated the beast. He banished it to Tartarus and then with his siblings, took power over the world.
