Taleris
From BluWiki
(? - 138 FS) Taleris was a prominent member of the Bralani caste of the true Eladrin in the earlier ages of Faerie. However, he became displeased with the abundant life imbued into the plane by Layla and with the apparent hypocrisy of his peers. They spoke of balance in all things, but Taleris longed for the balance of life and death in Faerie. He secretly began meeting with operatives from the Shadow Relms, the parallel worldscape created by Charvix and vested with death. Through these meetings, he secured allies to his cause, and through his demagogic call to action, he drew followers from the denizens of Faerie as well. Taleris and his allies formed a new caste of Eladrin, the Malari, dedicated to bringing death to balance life.
His movement was not to last, however, as a combined Eladrin force of Bralani and Ghaele seized him from his tower at Aarda Thun. The Twilight Council convened, Taleris was tried, and his sentence was permanent exile in Primus, where his powers would be diminished. He wandered the land for centuries, searching for a way to return to his homeland, when he met Oleron Lethos and his compatriots. Playing on the wizard's deep desire to discover his heritage, Taleris manipulated him and his family into retrieving a magical gem capable of creating planar rifts. With the gem in hand, the fell fey led Oleron, Ceralin de Roisin, Aldaren Sterenfeuer, and Felix Zephyr through the Shadow Realms, returning to Faerie by an unseen road.
Taleris reunited with the remnant of his Malari followers upon his return and began planning his resurgence. He anticipated the arrival of Oleron and his friends, the mandate of the Eladrin, and the confrontation that lay ahead. The Lord of the Malari chose his words carefully. When the adventurers had fought their way to his twisted tower, he welcomed them into his audience chamber. There he faced Aldaren and Ceralin in a war of words over the loyalty of their friend. Even Aldaren's silver tongue was bested as Oleron pledged his loyalty to the Malari, receiving new power from the very gem he had retrieved for his new lord. Taleris then dismissed his new servant and his friends, returning them to Primus while he prepared for the struggle to come.
After approximately a month, Taleris recalled Oleron to his palace, inviting his people to come with him and live as Malari. Shortly after the wizard's arrival, however, a party of adventurers led by Zephyria infiltrated the keep, seeking to destroy Taleris. With Oleron's help, he defeated the would-be heroes, removing yet another obstacle on the way to his ultimate goal.
In late 138 FS, Oleron Lethos saw the error of his ways and turned on his dark master. Along with Ceralin de Roisin, Aldaren Sterenfeuer, and Felix Zephyr, he confronted Taleris. The Malari lord reanimated the adventurers who had previously tried to slay him to fight at his side, but despite the aid, he was defeated.
Rumor has it that his spirit persists in the Shadow Realms, waiting to take his revenge on those who wronged him and building up his fell armies once more. Andiron Lethos, Zephiron Lethos, and Felix Zephyr encountered some of his minions in Faerie, and the resulting conflict led to Zephiron's death. Oleron Lethos, seeking to avenge his fallen uncle and make right his crimes, set out to confront him in 144 FS. The outcome of the conflict is unknown.
