Discussion about the horror stories related to advising & classes

Re:Longwood University won't accommodate my Learning Disabilities

I had the opposite experience I guess. I do have a learning disability, but have been able to overcome it with little help. However, in several of my classes I was asked to take notes for those who had learning disabilities. Most of the time, I would type them and email them, but sometimes would deliver to the Learning Center. Of course you had to sign up and ask for this assistance. I also know that they had tutors. It may have been difficult to get a tutor depending on the class; I was asked to be one but declined. I also know that people with physical disabilities were accommodated more than other schools. A girl I knew in a wheelchair said she really wanted to go to VT, but went to Longwood because they had handicap accessible rooms and sidewalk ramps that connected (or whatever the concaves are called). -Longwood Enthusiast Alumni
