Talk:Square Magic

From BluWiki

A breakdown of five schools of magic in the typical Final Fantasy world.

  • White - Spells of a defensive, or helpful nature.
    • Cure, Raise, Protect, Shells, Esuna, Reflect, Dispel. Also Holy
  • Black - Spells of an offensive nature. Typically relating to the elements.
    • Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Wind, Earth. Also Dark, Flare, and Ultima.
  • Time and space - The spells that affect the slow of time, and relate to spatial statuses
    • Haste, Slow, Stop, Quick. Teleport, Warp, Degen. Gravity, Demi, Meteor.
  • Blue - Spells gained by recieving the attacks of others.
    • Since Blue spells are limited by what you can survive from your enemies, theoretically Blue Magic can encompass any power outside of the standard magic system.
  • Summoning - Spells that summon a beast to perform actions for you.

Tiers of power are typically known by their normal name, followed by a "-a" tier, "-ga" tier, and finally a "-ja". For example, a Black Mage may begin his career knowing the spell Thunder, but quickly learn to increase it's power and capacity, becoming Thundara, Thundaga, and at the height of his power, Thundaja. Some Mages ignore the suffix system, merely numbering the spells (in the previous example, turning Thunder into Thunder 1, then Thunder 2, and so on.)

Just some ideas. --Sakaki 23:28, 11 December 2007 (EST)

When I have a brain and the gumption, I'll go fire up XII and check its schools. Right now I should be sleeping but have a fsking second wind. And what am I doing? Crawling the wiki... AlishaShatogi 08:53, 11 March 2008 (EDT)
