Tangential information about Apple should be removed

There is a comment that Apple has donated money to victims of September 11, why on earth is that relevant to whether not Vendors are friendly towards free software or are pro-DRM? I call for this to be deleted, it is superfluous.

Index by Product Type?

This page is getting large enough now, so that indeces are needed. In this way, people who are considering the purchase of hardware can quickly find the relevant entries.

How about something like this to start with:

Index by Product Type
Cameras
* #Canon

Printers
* #Brother
* #Canon
* #Epson
I think its good as it is. -- Eldmannen 16:18, 4 December 2006 (EST)

Delete Microsoft

Why is there an entry for Microsoft. They're a software company. I thought this site was about hardware vendors. Kosher 01:24, 25 November 2006 (EST)

  • Microsoft is also a hardware company - users may be considering their keyboards and mice for use on their PCs. (And if the Playstation info is relevant under the Sony entry, Microsoft makes the Xbox competition to those.)
    • So far as I'm aware, all "microsoft" hardware, is manufactured by others. Microsoft merely issue licenses to these manufacturors which allows them to put the Microsoft trademark on their products. A keyboard with the word "Microsoft" written on it, doesn't make Microsoft a keyboard manufacturor. Kosher 00:43, 26 November 2006 (EST)
Microsoft makes keyboard, mice, joypad, joysticks. Even if it is as you say that Microsoft doesn't produce the hardware, they sell it under their name, and when consumers buy it, their money goes to the pocket of Microsoft. -- Eldmannen 16:16, 4 December 2006 (EST)

Home Pages?

I would like to see links to the Corporate home pages. What do others think? --65.249.253.29 04:29, 24 November 2006 (EST)

Yes, I agree. And/or to Wikipedia article. -- Eldmannen 17:22, 24 November 2006 (EST)
Disagree. This page isn't supposed to be a service to the vendors, but to consumers. People considering purchasing a product from a vendor, already know about the vendor's marketing materials. Kosher 00:56, 25 November 2006 (EST)

Product information?

What about product information? What do these companies produce/sell? All of those currently listed are obvious, but what about companies like TVease? Builders of a Linux-based media box. --65.249.253.29 04:32, 24 November 2006 (EST)

Maybe a link to website would be enough or to wiki which explain. Else just a very short summary. Must not clutter. -- Eldmannen 17:23, 24 November 2006 (EST)

Please try to include references if possible. -- Eldmannen 21:34, 24 November 2006 (EST)

Tracking Dots in printers

Should we also add a list of vendors that supports tracking dots in printers? More info on the EFF related page. --nakis 05:50, 23 July 2007 (EDT)

Install Software

Thank you for the help. Will this work in Windows 7? There is another method to install software i.e. using safe mode. Just press the F8 key when you start your windows. You can also copy the CD to your hard disc and can run the install from set up. Try to run the install from your hard drive in safe mode and see if things work.

If you are still getting the problem to install software then you can just check the manufacturer details on the CD or can visit to the manufacturer’s site. Just get in touch with them over phone or can mail them at their e-mail address.

If you have just downloaded software from the manufacturer’s site then you can visit the site and ask for the trouble shooting. Some good manufacturing sites have message board where you can post your complaints and you will get the answer instantly by the experts. Nowadays, one can see the number of pornographic, betting, gift offering websites cropping up. The people who have a PC at their places are a worried lot. They want to save their children from these sites ill effect. To counter this people use spyware software to keep a check on their child’s activity. As we all know in the adolescent age the chance of watching pornographic site is quite high and an alert guardian can not afford to ignore this act. Apart from this, there are number of sites where one can get the entire nuisance in the internet sites. However, the software alone can not play the roles of the guardian but definitely it can save a lot of damage. One can see the alert guardians using net nanny software to other spycam to keep a tab on their child. This will help them to keep a track of what they are doing and they could be warned before they fall into any trap. So one can install software and get rid of all their woes.
