The Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of the Small Island Nation is the Head of Government and the presiding officer of the Parliament of Small Island Nation. He (or she) is appointed to his (or her) office by the President of Small Island Nation upon the assembly of each newly appointed/elected Parliament, and holds that position either until the President issues a new Writ of Election, or the P.M. is forced to resign.

Official Duties

The Prime Minister inhabits a gray area in the SIN political system. He is the highest ranking presidential appointee, and is also the confirmed presiding officer of the SIN Parliament.

The legislative duties of the Prime Minister consist of: assembling and adjourning Parliament, submitting Parliamentary Acts to be signed into law, taking minutes of Parliamentary meetings, or appointing another member to do so.

The executive functions of the Prime Minister consist of: coordinating the actions of the Ministries and civil service bureaux, advising the President, functionally vetoing bills, and serving as Acting President should tragedy strike.

Offices

The Prime Minister has no offices per se, as the Parliament has no permanent designated meeting place. However, the P.M. also acts as an advisor to the President, along with the rest of the cabinet, and so may or may not (depending on available space) have an office in the Presidential Manor. If not, then the P.M. does most of his business out of the home.

Staff

The Prime Minister also lacks an official staff, as his (or her) duties are such that they can only be discharged by the individual holding the office. The P.M. will often have an unoffical staff, consisting of secretaries, bodyguards, drivers, and the like.
