The Scarlet is a fictional character in the superhero world of Micah Sicotte. An advanced beauty and natural soldier, she uses her natural psychic abilities and militarily gained cybernetics to keep Canada and the world free from terrorists and those SPB’s who use their abilities to harm civilians.

Identities

Trained as an intelligence operative, when Sonia developed psychic abilities in her early twenties, she used them without realising it to cover her true self, making others believe she was something else. Gifted in disguise and makeup, she is a tremendous actor and can put on almost any persona, though her six feet of height do put her at a slight disadvantage.

Lucy DelMount: Her main identity. A half French Super Model working for the Trevalier company based in Montreal, Quebec. This is a legitimate front and she is secretly the sole owner of the fashion company. Lucy is a world figure and has acted as a cover for many official and unofficial adventures. All the world but Canada’s super secret Intelligence corps recognise her under this identity and she does enjoy the role.

Tricia Delaware: An American national and CIA/FBI cover, used when she is working for any of the American Agencies. They both realise that this identity is a sham, but no one has yet tracked down her real name.

Sonia DelCarlo: Her true identity. Only the CSL, her personal assistants and select members of the Canadian Secret Intelligence Corps know her as Sonia. She keeps this identity carefully hidden, particularly from the Firebrand gang who want her dead.

Origin

The Scarlet was born when the Firebrand gang began to swallow her family through violence, drugs and manipulation. At first, she operated as a normal human without any special powers. However, she developed psychic abilities in her early twenties while with the military, and quickly converted her heavy military gear into a costume. She has always felt that when the system breaks down, vigilantism was the right path to tread, and that action is better than waiting for a miracle. She took her name from both the colour of her hair, and the colour of blood, which to her represented the underlying reason for her striking out on her own.

Background Story

Sonia was the youngest of five children born to Alejandro DelCarlo, a Spanish American Government Accountant and a Eugenie Chavallieux, a French Canadian journalist of high reputation. She was the only girl, and her four older brothers taught her to take care of herself in a man’s world. Unfortunately, as they became teenagers, one by one, the life of the street’s began to claim them, and then when she was thirteen, it tried to claim her.

The deaths of two of her brothers and an attempted rape brought Sonia to her senses, and she decided to take the matters into her own hands. During her teenage years, she attempted by any means at her disposal including taking the law into her own hands to stop the threat of gangs. When she was seventeen, she and her family were singled out by the street leaders for elimination as a nuisance. Not only did she manage to fend them off, using her parents townhouse as a weapon, but she was able to secure the assistance of the local law enforcement for Montreal. With her help, they were able to all but eliminate the gang’s in her area.

When she turned nineteen, she decided on an army career, having advanced through various martial arts and physical training classes. She qualified as a gunnery officer, and worked her way up to sergeant in the infantry. When she turned twenty-two, she was drafted by the Intelligence community, and spent five years travelling the world, working for many different forces and earning promotion.

It was when she was on a mission in the Yukon that a thermo-nuclear explosion occurred, and she was caught just on the edge of the blast zone. Her limbs were torn from her body, and a super-elite government agency in Canada paid for cybernetic limbs to be grafted onto her body. It also secretly pumped her body full of top secret and highly volatile chemicals in an attempt to make her into a super soldier. The process was only half successful, as her psychic abilities increased manifold instead of her body. It was then that she became ‘The Scarlet’ and at the age of twenty-eight, she managed to escape the clutches of the intelligence and military community to become the super-hero of the people.

Her aging has now slowed to a crawl as the chemicals work their way through her system, and she still appears to be in her late twenties, even though she should be at least a decade or more older than that.

Character Biography

Scarlet is an extremely resilient and tough personality. Possessed of incredible physical beauty, she can become whatever she needs to be, but her natural persona is that of a straight talking, military minded ‘straight shooter’ who will overcome any obstacle in her way. Her manner of speaking is almost Brooklynesque, with a tendency towards using masculine phrasing and ‘tough’ inflection.

As Scarlet, with her psychic powers turned on, she becomes slightly more masculine in her behaviour, but at the same time loses some clarity as she ‘connects’ to the world of the psychic and receives signals from the ether. Her voice takes on an ‘other-worldly’ quality and even her skin colour darkens, letting none but her closest able to see her for who she really is, so altered is her appearance. She can be more aggressive as Scarlet, particularly when angered, and though her beauty does not diminish, she availability does.

Powers, abilities, equipment, and costumes

A natural and intuitive psychic, Scarlet’s abilities are definitely more aggressive then passive, including a telekinetic control that is extremely well developed. However, her powers have manifested themselves in a way that is more personal and inclined towards her protection and well being then others, and she is considered by other SPB’s as an almost insurmountable foe.

Having had her limbs and some body parts replaced by cybernetic systems, she is able to utilise technology to make her stronger, faster and a better combat personality. The chemical alterations she was exposed to during her conversion into a supersoldier has also had a positive impact on her combat capabilities.

Gifted with an instinctive intelligence and a basic understanding of human psychology, Scarlet is canny in a military sense, and well versed in combat and intelligence situations. She also possesses an indomitable will which makes her almost invincible and is a major part of her feature persona. She is particularly sensitive to ‘hard luck’ cases and seemingly unwinnable circumstances which contain a humane element, and has become embroiled in many adventures as a result.

For her costume, Scarlet tends to dress in tight, almost military like clothing, often with her trade mark pony-tail, but seldom lets her full face show, though she likes to keep her eyes showing as they glow a reddish colour when using her abilities and cannot be connected with her normal persona as Sonia in any case. She has never had a cape and tends to dress more in a military/mercenary costume than in a flashy, showy way, tending for muted colours or black, depending on her current activities.

Scarlet uses weapons of all kinds and is an excellent pilot and driver. She maintains a fleet of military converted equipment and vehicles that she uses in her SPB activities. Her favourite vehicle is a converted HUMV that has an onboard computer system and numerous weapons secreted beneath extra armour. She loves flying and has a fleet of planes and helicopters at her disposal.

Enemies

Scarlets’ main enemies are: Sir. Damian Rice, head of Allegory Inc.: who made her into a supersoldier and whom she has called a personal vendetta upon. They are arch-nemisis and neither will rest until the other has been defeated utterly. Sir. Rice was last seen in South Africa where he was apparently killed by the African tribe he had enslaved, however, his body was never found and Scarlet doubts his demise.

Blackwatch Colonel Denise Chamblay: who was forced to work with Scarlet through the CSL where the two women found themselves on very different ground. Col. Chamblay has sworn revenge for her career being stopped through actions Scarlet undertook, and Scarlet mistrusts her very much as they have too much in common militarily and she can see a dark version of herself without powers.

The Firebrand gang: The original gang she defeated in her hometown and who is still around, trying to gain revenge.

There are numerous lesser enemies too long to mention here.

Friends & Allies

Among her current friends and allies, excepting the CSl members, Col. Desmond Raphael (Canadian Intelligence Corps), General Richard Grousdelour (UN Special forces Commander), Dr. Alexi Papanouskous (Research Scientist), Agent Lucas Sheridan (MI6), Agent Helena Carter (CIA), Special Agent Kirk Tremont (FBI), Celyna DuGuerre (Paris Fashion Designer), her official body guard and personal attendant Douglas Fairland and her best friend, Fashion Agent and Lawyer Sylvia B. Porter.

Residences

Since joining the CSL, Sonia has resided chiefly in the Ontario City of Langara, though she does keep homes in Boston, Montreal and Paris. The secondary headquarters of Trevalier is located in Langara City and is a prominent feature of the northern Skyline.

Although the main office tower does maintain a penthouse apartment that she sometimes uses, her main home in Langara is a large modern wood and glass cabin in the semi-remote but exclusive Crossley district near the olde forest. Her main abode has an underground secret passage to the Trevalier tower and is protected by all manner of security devices.

Sonia’s favourite home however is an old Colonial French Canadian house she renamed Chateau Chevallieux (in honour of her mother) in the outskirts of Montreal which has some land and where she maintains a working horse stable.
