UC: Ways to get money
From BluWiki
All facts shown below are based on some math calculations I've made (an excell sheet) on my own. If you need additional info about it, contact me. The MSN ID is available at the end of the page.
VERY IMPORTANT! Don't change the research tree you're developing (guided by the mission requirements) until you finish all your missions. For some races (Terrans for example) you're getting GREAT rewards out of finishing the missions, so please have patience and finish all your missions before changing the specialization. if you have problem to finish the missions, contact your lord, to help you get ready with the missions quickly. As soon as you're done with your missions (no more missions available), then you can use your I-Tech library to put all the points of infrastructure into a certain type - read all the guides to see what fits you most.
There are 6 playeable races into this game: Terran, A.Miner, Marauder, Viral, Collective and Guard.
Every system has it's own bonuses based on it's type. With some systems you start as a race, some you are able to get after finishing some missions, some you're able to make via New system menu and some you're able to get via donation. Be sure to check them all before proceeding System types
There are 6 ways of getting money into a system:
Contents |
Taxing - The best
- the best choice for Terran, Viral and Guard
- second choice for A.Miner, Collective or Marauder who don't want to depend on market or who want to have a high count population
This is based on putting all the planets into housing, upgrade your loyalty to 5k (if you don't upgrade your loyalty to 5k you'll earn a lot less) and then growing population and only population. You'll make then money every turn you're using. To get a good income from this method you need to invest a LOT of time in the game. But after a period you'll start seeing the results. the income grows exponential as you develop yourself
- Infrastructure - research ONLY housing, Try to get it to lvl 255 if possible ;)
- Minister trait - Tax Collector - minimum level is 16 to get some income aftre buying the food for the population. Upgrading this to lvl 999 should be your first priority
- Good system types as your main system - <in descending order> Orion (Terrans get these after they finish the missions), Orion (Terrans get these after they finish the missions) and Eden lvl X (in fact every Eden lvl is good, but you need more turns to grow the population - the income is not based on the system level but the growth rate is). Never use the above systems for anything else except for housing. Buy all the food you need from the market, you have the money to do that
How to start? Well, if you're a Terran, then after finishing the missions you'll get two Orions. Or you can make the Eden system via the new system link inside a system. how do you get food for all that population in case you don't produce enough? from the market, you need to refresh the food page many times (from 10 to 10 seconds) until you get something, then quickly buy it ;) hope you'll have luck to buy some ;)
How to develop yourself? Level your Eden (in case Eden is your system for population) to lvl X.
How to excell in this? Keep your loyalty to 5k at all times and level your Tax Collector minister to lvl 999 ASAP. Then try to get your infrastructure research in housing to lvl 255. Use one Orion (better than the Eden) or one Eden as your main system and fill the rest of system slots with Darks. To do that follow this exploration guide. Follow the indication given there to get the systems upgraded. Fill the dark systems with agriculture to ease your burden with the needed food.
PRO facts
- when you'll get your minister to lvl 999 and your infrastructure in housing to lvl 255 you'll earn HEAPS of money every turn
- you get the money without going to market to sell (as in Farming)
- with your high population count you're able to access lots of project -> more fun
CON facts
- you'll need to invest a lot in the game to make it work
- you'll need to grow population and this will take time everytime you get a killing blow on your system
- you'll need to keep your loyalty to 5k or else you're earning less
- you'll need to buy a lot of food from the market in advance, so that your people will not starve - but even so, in the end you'll earn more then in other ways ;)
Farming - common way of making money
- the best choice for Collective and Marauder
- the best choice for all races to build on the fodder Dark lvl X systems
- the second choice for Terran, Viral and Guard who don't want to invest a lot of time in the game by going the Taxing way
This is based on putting all the planets into agriculture, except some planets in housing for getting some population - needed to get your empire level up - but try to invest as less planets as possible in this. To plan for a specific empire level you want to achieve, check this link to see how much population you need. You'll make then food and raw materials every turn you're using and then sell them to the market (food for 15/piece , not less, and raw materials for 1/piece, not less)
- Infrastructure - research ONLY agriculture - research it to lvl 255
- Minister trait: Farmer - upgrading this to lvl 999 should be your first priority
- Good system types as your main system - <in descending order> Parthenon lvl X, Urania lvl X (you can get these after you donate), Farm lvl X and Dark lvl X (in fact every lvl is good, but you get more food and raw materials if you level it up - the income is based on the system level)
How to start? Well, if you're a Collective, then you'll start with a Titan, you can use it for a while, but remember that a leveled Farm is better. Or you can make the Farm system via the new system link inside a system.
How to develop yourself? Level your main system to lvl X.
How to excell in this? Level your Farmer minister to lvl 999 ASAP. Then try to get your infrastructure research in agriculture to lvl 255. Use one system (described above) as your main system and fill the rest of system slots with Darks. To do that follow this exploration guide. Follow the indication given there to get the systems upgraded. Fill the dark systems with agriculture to make an extra income.
PRO facts
- it's very easy to maintain the planets in the system
- requires less time in the game to get it to work
CON facts
- from time to time you'll need to sell the food on the market, or else you'll finish your money on income for your ships
Mining - the best for A.Miner
- is best fitted for A.Miner race
- for Terran race, mining for Terran Metal is a good way of income, since Terrans get a +500% to mining Terran Metal
- others can still use it but as an entertainment, since the bonuses to all races except the miners are not good enough - better choose Farming
This is based on putting all the planets into Mining, except some planets in housing for getting some population - needed to get your empire level up - but try to invest as less planets as possible in this. To plan for a specific empire level you want to achieve, check this link to see how much population you need. You'll have then to go to the system and click on mining every turn and then sell them to the market. By just using the turns you get nothing, so it requires some patience ;).
Some say it's the best income in the game if chosen by a miner, I don't know. You'll have to check it out ;)
- Infrastructure - research ONLY mining - research it to lvl 255. You'll get a +5 levels after finishing the missions for A.Miner, but these levels can't be redistributed when restarting
- Minister trait: Miner - upgrading this to lvl 999 should be your first priority
- Good system types as your main system - <in descending order> Titan lvl X, Rich lvl X (you can get these after you donate) and Dark lvl X (in fact every lvl is good, but you get more ore and minerals if you level it up - the income is based on the system level)
How to start? Make the Rich system via the new system link inside a system.
How to develop yourself? Level your Rich to lvl X.
How to excell in this? Level your Miner minister to lvl 999 ASAP. Then try to get your infrastructure research in mining to lvl 255. Use one Rich as your main system and fill the rest of system slots with Darks. To do that follow this exploration guide. Follow the indication given there to get the systems upgraded. Fill the dark systems with agriculture to ease your burden with the needed food for the population or to get an extra income.
PRO facts
- it's very easy to maintain the planets in the system
- requires less time in the game to get it to work
- you get heaps of money from the materials you mine
CON facts
- from time to time you'll need to sell the ore and minerals you just mined on the market, or else you'll finish your money on income for your ships
- you need to mine in a specific system to get the results -> Ore and the specific mineral that system is capable of producing
Broker - best fun
Playing the market - buying with less and selling with more. You need to have market experience to be able to play this. There are no rules ;). You need to finish some missions to be able to access the market
PRO facts
- if played well you can double the money you have invested or even more
- no infrastructure nor ministers required
- it's a lot of fun and adrenaline ;)
CON facts
- you need to have a large amount of cash to be able to do that
- you need time and patience to get some results
- you can lose the money you invested if the market changes or if you're in a debt situation and you have to sell for less
Commerce
The worst way of making money for all races - even for Terrans. DON'T PICK it unless you're really stupid. By choosing Farming you'll make more money with the same time invested in the game and with the similar levels in infrastructure and ministers. Unless Stephen will change the bonuses this will remain the worst income method. Some missions (e.g. for Terran race) require you to develop commerce infrastructure; do it, but as soon as you finish all the missions use the I-tech library you have to change to another way of making money (infrastructure level - commerce and minister trait - Economist)
PRO facts
- NONE
CON facts
- it's better to get Farming as an income source
Industry
This is based on buying the raw materials from the market and then change them into consumer goods. Farming is a better way even for the A.Miner race. However, on dummy Eden system you don't want to build population on, the solution is to build Industry (since Edens don't allow agriculture).
(infrastructure level - industry and minister trait - Manufacturer)
PRO facts
- NONE
CON facts
- it's better to get Farming as an income source
