Follow their instructions, it's easy enough. Height and width may be reversed in some versions of this shareware and interlaced GIF is too buggy for a one-time user to bother with; go for non-interlaced or simply don't animate if it's too much for you.

For lazy first time use, either shrink a cool copyright free animated gif or clipart from the web (some shrink well, some don't) or make your own using pixel-by-pixel edit to make what you want.

A theme relating to your federation's name or attitude or race helps; some people use country flags or abstract animation.

Remember you have 8 pixel high, 20 pixel wide, and you can only upload from server 1 and you are at least lieutnant in your fed. I think the file size limit is 1k.

My first attempt at a logo, used for my fed galactic warriors was made after 30 minutes of careful pixed editing from a static real life image I shrinked and cleaned up a lot (whitened all nonsoldier bits). My second logo for Nibiruans was edited pixel by pixel manually.

The horizontal nature of the logo is nice for scrolling letters, racecars, little crabs or fishies, very old video game characters (from freeware), machine/rayguns, tanks rolling over obstacles, swords, stickmen fights, a pair of eyes, snakes, scorched earth type cannons, arrows, road viewed from a car driver, tiny star trek type ships, smilies, flamethrowers, shoplifter game type helicopters, country/fictional flags, and little character heads if you have more talent than me.

Try to time the frames of the animations better than I did, I was a bit lazy and could have done better.
