Welcome!
Welcome to BluWiki! You're in. Yes, this is how you do it -- you're doing fine. — "Bear" 02:23, 13 December 2005 (EST)
Old Text
I see you inserted or placed some of my old text...
- Actually, I think you did that; I'm pretty sure I didn't. Take a look at this history. (You can also see the same info by going to Image:PM-shot-0001.png and clicking the History link.) This is the history of the image description page, which is automatically created when the image itself is uploaded. It appears that User:67.136.142.44 altered this page to include all that text. That's probably you, when you were not logged into the wiki as User:Biggsiej. If you're not logged in, then your contributions are recorded with your IP. From your professional viewpoint, you might think of page history as a wiki page's audit trail.
- The text is not useful in its current location, so I'm moving it to User:Biggsiej/Student Conduct. — "Bear" 07:11, 21 January 2006 (EST)
Printing
...What do I have to do to print that out?
Also, I know I'm getting ahead of myself a bit but I have about 100 pages of the form set done and I'd like to try putting that in to see how the formatting is vis what it needs to be to do a 8.5 x 11 book.
- To print a wiki page from your browser, you can usually just choose Print from the File menu. If you don't like the result, you might try clicking Printable version on the page. (If you're using Cologne Blue skin, that's near the upper-right corner of every wiki page.)
- I think that you want to try formatting those first 100 pages using PageMaker. Correct? — "Bear" 07:11, 21 January 2006 (EST)
Uploading
Bear, I'm back. I am trying to figure out how to upload my text files and I'm not figuring it out. I did the [ ] and I put [A:\index to forms 01-10-06 (final).doc] in the upload box and put the http://www.bluwiki.org/go.User:Bear/PM in the box to receive the file. It didn't work.
What do I do??
- I don't recommend uploading Word files to the wiki; it may not even be possible, but in any case it is not useful.
- The whole point of a wiki page is that it is mutually editable. It's not a big, long thing; it's just about the same conceptual size as a whiteboard on a wall in a conference room. (Of course, we can share hundreds of pages, which is pretty neat).
- The wiki is not a tool for passing your Word file to me. The best way to do that is to burn it to CD; it's a very long document. The wiki is a place for sharing short messages and for displaying screenshots to one another, as I have done with my shot of the Document Setup dialog box. It is ideal for answering questions such as When I push this button, some sort of doohicky pops out. What is that? If you accompany that kind of question with a picture of your computer screen including the doohicky, I can answer you directly. — "Bear" 07:11, 21 January 2006 (EST)
