What is this?

A bunch of UVA students students in sharing a 1 BR apartment @ wintergreen. Most of us are from the Virginia snowboard club or VASST - but you don't have to be a member (or a student) to do this. Just don't be a creep.

Condo Details

  • 1 bedroom / 1 bath with living room
  • Cost: $650 + utilities, split evenly among everyone
  • Location: Laurelwood neighborhood, 3 minute walk to the slopes
  • Amenities: Fully Furnished w/ Queen Bed, Dresser, Sofa, TV, Stereo, Washer/Dryer, Dinette, much more plus fully equipt kitchen w/ dinnerware, cookware, etc
  • We expect the place to fit 6 people max at any one time (with air mattresses, sofa, etc)

How will the place be shared?

Our best idea - the "credit" system:

Everyone gets 20 "credits" / month. Each credit counts towards one person sleeping @ the place for one night. That means, if 10 people are sharing this place, you're paying $3.25 / credit!

What are "credits?"

We think that up to 6 people can sleep at the place any one night (we'll have 2-3 air mattresses, 1 sofa and 1 bed).

Each credit counts for one person staying the night, so up to 6 credits can be used any one night. This means if you want the whole place, you would use 6 credits / night. You could also register half the place for 3 credits / night. If it's just you, you can just use 1 credit / night.

Who gets preference?

Anyone can register for any spot, until up to 1 month before. At that point, if two people have registered for the same spot, the person who has used the place less gets preference. When its less than 1 month before the desired date, you can only register for available spots. At this point, once you have registered, you're guaranteed that spot.

Isn't 20 credits too much?

We thinking that, even with everyone getting 20 credits - there will still be plenty of available space. If there are 10 people sharing the place, then that means up to 200 credits could be used. Remember, the place can take up 6 credits any one night (for up to 6 people). This means there will be 180 slots available each month. Its likely that not everyone will use all their credits each month.

How do you register?

You'd probably be able to register online, on this page.

What are some other ideas?

  • we don't use a registration system at all, people just show up
  • everyone can only reserve it for (max) one weekend a month
  • everyone gets a set number of weekends days (say 10) and a set number of weekdays (say 20) that they can reserve the place over the winter
  • Those who have reserved fewer weekends get priority over those who have reserved more often.
  • We're open to suggestions
